Filter Press

Filter Press

A filter press is a mechanical device that separates solids from liquids by pumping slurry into a series of filter plates lined with filter cloths. It is commonly used in industrial processes and wastewater treatment for efficient dewatering and filtration.

What happens in Filter Press?

A Filter press is used for separating solids from liquids in slurry form by applying pressure. The slurry is pumped into a series of chambers formed by stacked filter plates, each lined with filter cloth. As the slurry fills the chambers, pressure is applied, causing the liquid to pass through the filter cloth, while the solids remain trapped inside.

The liquid that passes through the filter cloth is collected separately, while the solids accumulate inside the chambers, forming a solid “cake.” Once the filtration process is complete, the filter press is opened, and the solid cake is removed, while the filtered liquid can be discharged for further processing or disposal.

Filter presses are widely used in industries like mining, chemical processing, food processing, and wastewater treatment. They provide efficient separation of solids and liquids and are highly effective in handling high-volume slurry treatments with minimal energy consumption.
